After only 2 1/2 days the exterior walls and roof are completely framed. All that is left is to set the windows, doors, install the metal and the exterior will be finished. Once again I am amazed at how quickly this type of house can be closed in and finished on the exterior. I am also again amazed at the small amount of scrap this type of building generates. I did not make a picture but I do not think the scrap would fill a pickup bed. Stick frame houses on the other hand generate large piles of scrap. The excavator also showed up and back filled around the house.
A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE PORCHES:
On this house the porches serve 3 purposes. They offer protection for the windows and doors. You could leave the windows open in a rain storm without getting water inside the house. This house will have a minimum of windows and will not have any windows in the ends of the house. Without the porches this house would look like a big old tacky box. The porches give the facade a little charm. Lastly they are great place to sit. Turn off the TV, sit on the porch, listen to some music, and enjoy a glass of wine it doesn’t get any better. We have a fairly large back porch on our home and it is used extensively in the spring, summer, and fall. The 8ft x 48ft back porch on this house will be great and it is facing north so shade all the time.
